The Blue Ring is based on the biography of Marie-Jeanne Darr. Marie was born in Juan Les Pins-Antibes in the heart of the French Riviera. She lived in both France and Italy and was caught up in the middle of World War II.The Blue Ring reveals a side of World War II from a viewpoint that has rarely been written about or discussed. It is a viewpoint from the French side and a Division of the French Underground. "The Resistance was the most incredible organization. It was built primarily by the hearts of the people of France. These people, wanting to help, gave, expecting nothing, sometimes losing their own lives for their beliefs, for integrity, decency and honesty."
Join Marie, her brother Nini and the rest of her family as they struggle against the German occupation. See how their heritage and a family heirloom-The Blue Ring-play a part in the world's history.
Beginning or starting over are not new things for Marie-Jeanne. From a Depot of Surplus under American authorities, followed by the French where she held an important job over the civilian help, she went to the Foire Internationale de Marseille as Interpreter and was in contact with Embassies all over the world, inviting them to participate.Once in America she had to start all over again, through determination and perseverance, she worked her way up the ladder and became M.J. Darr, Operation Manager of an Independent Oil Company and remained so for many years.
The Blue Ring is her first book - it refers to her heritage, to growing up in France and Italy, to World War II, the Underground, and the gratitude of her people toward America.
Her daughter, Cherie, who helped Marie-Jeanne write her story, was formerly an actress and dancer who worked with companies from New York to Los Angeles, and decided to move to San Diego becoming an Esthetician and developing her own line of cosmetics and skin care products.
Just like her mother, Cherie is not afraid of starting over.
Their motto has always been "Vouloir c'est Pouvoir" (Where there is a will there is a way.)
